Interactive Product Tour

The Getting Started (GS) component is an onboarding tool designed to guide users through the initial steps during their first interaction with the system.

Opportunity

Fifty percent of users who land on the system after signing up take no further action on the platform.

Target Audience

First-time users, especially those new to monday.com and other work management platforms, make up around fifty percent of the monday.com customer base.

Hypothesis

Users need a clear next step.

Solution & Learning

Personalization

We learned that most users come to monday.com to manage tasks. By shifting our messaging to be more task-oriented, we achieved excellent results, connecting the platform's value more accurately and improving activation rates.

Messaging

We tested three versions of the initial heading using UserTesting and found that the version that included the user's name captured the most attention. Additionally, a CTA heading that welcomed the customer significantly drove more engagement. We established a consistent structure with a logical hierarchy and incorporated a personalized approach to our messaging.

Timing

Users showed increased activity when the component appeared, capturing their attention within approximately four seconds.

Educational Visuals

We created a consistent, animated visual language for educational content, working with the Vibe, brand, and motion teams. This approach used minimal features for maximum clarity and company reuse.

Positioning & indication

We added an animated indicator for orientation on the board to the component. We left the component stationary and provided a complimentary board for working.

Problems We Want to Solve

Users who land on the platform need help figuring out what to do next. The user lands on his main boardโ€”where he mainly works.

Inactivity and churn. Increasing user interaction with the system will increase the probability of him being a paying customer.

We saw two variants of users: one who jumps around and clicks on every shiny button but doesn't take any meaningful action, and the other who does nothing.
